Michael asked:

It seems to me that all you do in Y!A is seek affirmation, not the truth. Atheists always seem to do this. You can’t say ‘God doesn’t exist’ because I know He does–and I used to be agnostic. If you seek Him, you will find Him.

You’ll never open your mind if you’re only seeking affirmation. Turning your head and closing your eyes while saying, ‘I don’t see,’ does not equate to seeking the truth.

For those who are willing to open their minds:

2 Chronicles 15:2 (NIV)

2b The LORD is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

I know God exists because he saved my life five separate times. (How hard-headed of an agnostic was I?) I’ve sought Him with all my heart and mind and He is very real. I have tested His voice and He never leads me astray. Plus, I occasionally sense His presence and am filled with joy when He makes His presence known.
That’s how I know–I have a relationship with Him.

Thanks for asking!

“It seems to me that all you do in Y!A is seek affirmation, not the truth. ”

How things seem to you doesn’t seem very relevant. Atheists aren’t the ones with their eyes tightly shut ignoring reality and chanting Bible verses. You are.

“You can’t say ‘God doesn’t exist’ because I know He does”

Sure I can. God doesn’t exist. Not only can I say it, I’m on solid ground when I do.

What you say you “know” is irrelevant. You’re simply wrong.
You really need to work on that arrogance problem, kid. The fact that you believe something doesn’t make it so. Open your eyes and learn that lesson.

I don’t. I seek to protect others from lies about science.

Theists, why do you seek affirmation here? Do you know deep down that no gods exist, but fear death that much?

“You can’t say ‘God doesn’t exist’ because I know He does–and I used to be agnostic.”

Now who’s seeking affirmation?

Many of us are ex-christians. The same technique is used to ‘find’ every other god.

Eleni on 12 July, 2009 at 3:47 pm #

how do you know god exists?

Elian on 16 July, 2009 at 7:45 am #

Do you know the difference between opinion and fact. You hold an opinion that the fictional ‘god’ exists. You have no facts to back up your opinion.

No I am just here to have fun. If you found god good for you but I still do not believe in any god(s)

“She said to Isotta”Bring food and some beer to the soldiers here in the hall, and to the Lord Merlin. Bring them water for washing, and all they desire. I will speak with my lord in our chamber. Have food and wine sent there at once.”
The Mist of Avalon page 99

See I can quote literature too.

I don’t listen to painfully arrogant people, if that is what you are getting at.

To some degree, everyone seeks affirmation of their beliefs, yourself and any other christian included.

I myself invite evidence supporting views contrary to my own in order to test the validity of my own beliefs. However, the Bible does not satisfactorily do that for me.

If you wnat to believe something badly enough it becomes real to you. Christian, Muslim and Hindu “seekers” all find God, but it is not the same God. It is the God they are looking for, not a real God.

“You can’t say ‘God doesn’t exist’ because I know He does”

I’m an open minded person on many levels, it’s not like I just woke up on a blue moon and decided to hate God. I use to pray everyday and then I came to the rational conclusion of atheism.

I’m willing to hear anyones evidence for God. Do I honestly think I will ever get it, no. And this post doesn’t help anyone want to convert, especially if everyone in your religion is like you.
